At some time or the other, most people have been hoping to work in a paper-free office some day. Many years ago, my brother used to tell me about a real office building where you would hardly find any paper, because they operated almost in a fully-computerized environment. I would wonder how that was possible. Yet on one of our weekend drives to town, he did show me that building. Little did I know that one day I would work in a document management company myself and appreciate the need to go paperless!
In most parts of the world, we still have some way to cover before we can turn completely paperless. But in a majority of offices – small, medium and large – work is done, to a lesser or greater extent, using digital media.
