With so much of talk going on about Google taking over the last frontier with Google Now ( and making Siri feel the heat), you would be curious about what Google Now means for business, we know we are. So we imagined what a regular day would look like with Google Now, once it’s there for good. Here is what your diary may look like in future.

Someday, Near Future
It was a busy night yesterday, like it always is. We were out making presentations, and somehow it turned into an all night thing. I need to remember that I am not so young anymore. ( Let me add that somewhere..). Well anyway today started a bit late and it was an interesting day to say the least. Mainly because I had no clue about anything, when I woke up. I must say I am impressed that I got through. It all started with a simple Notification on my Smartphone screen.
#Meeting Notification: Meeting in Business Park with “Mr. Big Company” @ 12:00
I had been planning to nail this guy for ages. He could really make life better for us if he gives us that contract. However when I woke up, I had no clue it was the day. A simple notification in phone, and I realized that it was today! It would be an understatement to say I wasn’t prepared. I had to get my act together. Before I could think more on preparing myself, there was another card/ticker. Now I remembered, I had recently started using Google Now, and it must have synced my phone with google calendar. It was now showing a different card.
#Weather Notification: It’s going to rain in Business Park
Oh! I better be prepared, I thought. Don’t want to be entering the big meeting looking like I have been recently flushed. So I guessed the next order of things would have been to look for some umberellas, or raincoats. I wondered if I have any. I wasn’t still used to it, so it was a shock when I saw that there was another card listing out shops nearby where I could get the items. Neat! Now I was really hooked. After some purchase, I remembered I had forgotten the important documents! Luckily I had been using a nifty document management system that had a Dropbox plugin. I got the documents alright. Now, I was getting used to it. So I looked at my phone screen expecting it to magically show me the way. And it did!
# Maps Notification: Avoid Traffic, take the Silver Street Avenue, and connect to Expressway to reach before 12:00 AM.
That’s all the help I needed. While I was driving down using the directions, I was thinking to myself about what else I was missing. I really had to do something about my schedule; it was dangerous to blank out like this on important days. Just as my car pulled in the Business Park, I got a call from Mr. Big Company himself! “Steve, I have to run to Airport now, something has come up. So if you are already here, we can talk in the car” he said. I had no choice but to accept. When we got into the car, he seemed in all the hurry I expected him to be. He had a flight to catch, and he didn’t know the schedule so well. Luckily a card was displaying the flight schedule. It was delayed! “Of course, it must have been because of the rains” I thought. Now that we were already in the car, I had to keep him with me somehow. By now, I was counting on Now.
# Nearby Places: Sizzlers Festival in Hot Sizzlers Restaurant near Air Port
As I read that notification, I was relieved. I quickly suggested we went there as we talked. In my experience, talks on a rainy day go well with hot food. And so it was, as the deal was closed and I had even managed to get in the good books of Mr. Big Company. It was the most perfect day in my life till then only because of what happened later on. As I was happily cruising with a contract in my bag and a whistle on my lips, there was this nagging feeling that I had been forgetting something. Finally I decided to stop at a gas station and take a quick look at my phone again. There was a card that I couldn’t believe! It was the Megabowl final, and Blackblazers were in for a once in a lifetime opportunity!
# Sports Notification: Blackblazers get washed out by Reddragons, as it thunders and storms in Central Park.
A notification that told me I had lost a bet, and more than that my spirit. Blackblazers was my team! Right from the school days I had been following them, celebrating their wins, mourning their losses. They had finally made it to the main league, and that too till the finals! To be so close and yet so far… It was too good to be true day at any rate. Maybe I would have had problems believing it had it not been for this crushing defeat. Almost in a trauma I looked at my phone again. There was another notification.
# Places Notification: Trippy Pumpkin Bar, all you can drink weekend.
It had been a long day, so I had to come here. As I am writing this entry in my diary, I am hoping tomorrow I could get back my perfect day. Right now it’s time to heal my hurting spirits with some of the toughest spirits.

Well we think Steve would be alright pretty soon. Believe it or not, Google Now does seem to possess the ability to let you have a day like that. It remains to be seen how soon can this distant future arrive? What do you think you would like to use Google Now for? Please feel free to write in your comments. (We love them). Have a great day!
