One of the technical specifications of Sohodox is that it works with all TWAIN compatible scanners. When a scanner is TWAIN compatible, it allows you to scan documents directly into the application – in this case Sohodox.
What’s the difference?
Say if you wanted to scan a text document and add it to Sohodox. Without TWAIN compliance, you must scan and save the document. Then drag and drop it to Sohodox. With TWAIN compliance, you simply hit Scan within Sohodox and the document gets scanned and added to Sohodox. This requires fewer steps to add the document to Sohodox. Also, the user interface that you work with while scanning remains the same, regardless of which scanner you use. You don’t need to familiarize yourself with a new interface every time you get a new scanner or while working with different brands of scanners used in your office.
But I don’t have a TWAIN scanner. Can I still scan to Sohodox?
If you do not have a TWAIN compatible scanner, you can still work with Sohodox. Although you cannot scan a document directly to Sohodox, you can scan and save the document to a folder in your PC or laptop with Sohodox’s Folder Monitor feature pre-activated for that folder. This will add the document to Sohodox automatically as soon as it is saved to that folder.
The next time you decide to buy a scanner, make sure you check the tech specs and choose the one that is TWAIN compatible. This will allow you to connect Sohodox to the scanner itself and work with the scanned documents seamlessly.
