Let us start by hoping you are having a great time. This year is looking very good and the start of year excitement is almost down the drains (hey that could be almost literal!), so the time is ripe to reflect and to speculate. Here is a brain-freezer of a question. ‘What would you choose between appearances and efficiency?’ The answer holds the key to the direction in which your business could move in months to come. We all know that space utilization is very efficient solution to managing your finances better. With the right utilization, one could improve the productivity by 50%, and decrease the expenses by nearly the same amount. What could be better than that? How about not having a dedicated space for business? While it depends on the kind of business you have, you could still consider the idea. Here is why.
# An office that travels, gathers no moss: Before you start wondering what we are getting at, let us elaborate. While it was always assumed to be convenient to work from home or mobile office for the business owners, it’s often forgotten that it could be convenient for others too. With a mobile office, you are not restricted to your space, so it frees you up to travel more, meet people in person. When you meet, things move on, which is good not just for you, but for your clients as well. Technically you could meet them all the time. So yes, travelling is good, a cookie for mobile office.
# An office that employees love: Sometimes it’s difficult to recruit people if you have a mobile set-up. Honestly, it’s like asking someone to conquer the world from their laptop. However if you think about it, irrespective of your office, it has always been difficult to recruit for a small business. Besides, your business needs people with a lot of cool and charisma, the kind of people who don’t think much about the set rules of business. That’s where innovation comes from and true innovators won’t really mind working out of their own space. They may even love it if you tell them that they can eat at their desk, and listen to music that they want. At the most inner level, we all love freedom.
# An office that loves teams: Okay, a mobile office has never been the poster boy for teamwork and collaboration, if anything, it has been considered its biggest bane. However that is not necessarily true. In a small set-up, processes are very abstract at times. While that is good for innovation and creativity, it does take its toll on accountability and teamwork. So when you move your small set-up in mobile office, all of your colleagues ‘have’ to be responsible, and the processes are automatically designed for that. This infuses some much needed discipline in the set-up.
We could probably come up with many more reasons why it makes sense to go for a mobile office. However the most obvious one remains to be the cost factor. Mobile office saves a bucket load of your money, and at the expense of stating the obvious, it’s really good to save money in the starting years of your business. We would love to know what you have to say, so do share your opinion. We hope you have a great time reading this!
